The Big Screen Symposium brings the filmmakers of Aotearoa NZ together once a year to hear from an unbeatable line-up of local and international speakers. Join us to be energised, challenged, and part of the conversation.

Big Screen Symposium 2020 will take place over two days on December 4 & 5 at the ASB Waterfront Theatre, Auckland.

Be immersed in two-days of conversations, workshops, panel discussions and case studies with a stellar line-up of local and international speakers.

This year's theme is Transforming Culture. It is about the transformative power of story, and the transformation of our industry through technological advances.

Culture informs our stories, they are made up of the meanings and emotions we connect to them. Our stories in turn shape culture. They have the power to unify, divide, contradict and influence change as they pass knowledge down to new generations.

Rapid change in technology transforms our methods, formats, and ability to connect with audiences, and requires adaptability and versatility to harness the possibilities.

Making stories for the screen is a way of life, and there is always a need for cracking good stories – stories that may go on to define and redefine our place in the world.

A group keynote address will speak to the theme. Join the conversations and debates with us this year at Big Screen Symposium 2020.
