Director Gaysorn Thavat brings her acclaimed feature debut home for the New Zealand premiere of The Justice of Bunny King.
The New Zealand Premiere of The Justice of Bunny King comes hot off the heels of its international debut at Tribeca Film Festival. Applauded by critics, leads Thomasin McKenzie and Essie Davis also received a special jury mention for their ‘outstanding achievement in acting’.
Bunny King (Essie Davis) is a mother of two, a rough cut diamond with a sketchy past. While battling the system to reunite with her children, a confrontation leads her to take her niece Tonyah (Thomasin McKenzie) under her wing. With the world against her and Tonyah, Bunny’s battle has just begun.
Locally, critics are also praising the film with Newshub saying "This film went straight for my heart" and the NZ Herald describing it as "Beautifully compassionate"
