Actor Tane Williams-Accra is perhaps best known to New Zealand audiences as ambo Ali Karim on Shortland Street; he played the role from 2016 to 2019. Directly after finishing on the show, he was cast in the feature film Fantasy Island – set for release in 2020. He will also appear in the Māori TV series Ahikāroa. Born in Brixton, UK, to Kiwi and Guyanese parents, he grew up in Wellington and is a graduate of Whitireia: Wellington Performing Arts Centre. His passion for theatre was sparked at drama school when he played Antipholus of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors. He is excited to be back on the stage, making his professional theatre debut as Paul. Also a skilled musician and dancer, Tane records and performs music under the name Tane the Forest Kid and released the EP FOREST in 2018.
